Keys 4 Success
1. Be Responsible 2. Be Safe 3. Be Kind 4. Be respectful
Hello Wildcats! My name is Chris Bottoms and I am proud to be a Wildcat. I am very excited to be your principal for the 2019-2020 school year. I look forward to working with all of the great teachers, students and parents at WCE. Last year was my first year as principal here at the Cove and I look forward to another successful year. Previously, I was the assistant principal of Chestnut Grove Middle School. I have a wife and two children, and have worked in education since 2005. I have previously taught high school social studies, 7th and 8th grade social studies and 8th grade science. I have received four degrees from Appalachian State University. These are Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, History (2004), Master of Arts in Middle Grades Education (2009), Master of School Administration (2016) and Education Specialist in Educational Administration (2018). This fall I begin work on my doctorate (Ed.D) from, you guessed it, Appalachian State. This year we are implementing PBIS at Walnut Cove Elementary and we will be teaching our students the Keys 4 Success. I look forward to a fantastic school year, GO WILDCATS!
